Since his early appearances at the Hacienda in ’89 Sasha has rarely been out of the top ten of the World’s Best DJ’s. He became the first "Pinup DJ" at the beginning of the decade, took his atmospheric trance sound around the world in the middle of the decade and along with John Digweed, ends the decade packing them in at New York’s Twilo on a monthly basis. As well as having several Top Ten hits Sasha is one of the most respected remixers in the world with Madonna as one of his current admirers. Forget any rumours you hear about him being the original moody DJ, at the end of his set you will see him shaking more hands than the president in election year. In the middle of his hectic Christmas schedule Sasha even found time to do this interview despite being late for his flight to the States.

I tried to sell them but I couldn’t because they were too big and it was the 23^rd of December so everybody had one.

Apart from your house, what single thing have you spent most money on?
A few years ago me and John Digweed chartered a private jet from Newark to Orlando in the US. It was New Year’s day and we had to get to a gig but there were no connecting flights. It cost us $20,000 and the irony is that the flight messed up Digger’s ears so he couldn’t do the gig when we got there.

What was your favourite musical movement: punk or acid house?
Aciiiiiiiiiiiiid.

Who is the most famous person you have met and did they know who you were?
Michael Parkinson. I cleaned his car for him.

What is the worse case of trainspotterism that you have ever had to endure?
Me. The first time I ever met Huggy from Back To Basics.

What TV programme do you never miss?
The Simpsons. Homer rules!

What is the best story that has ever been written about you in the press?
That I was shagging Madonna.
